    2.5gbit is common on modern equipment, if not 10gbit so this makes sense for the future.

    Well, having just built a vlan and qos for streaming from my steam machine in the basement to my steamdeck upstairs, this seems like a logical next step. Thanks!

    In my testing between my desktop and an ethernet-connected Xbox Ally X at 1080p60, 007 First light streamed with 10ms of latency (<1ms input, 9ms display) at a bitrate of ~190MB/s. Doubling the frame-rate to 120fps worked out to 15ms of latency at a bitrate of 380MB/s.

    Both those bit rates are well above gigabit ethernet speed. I wonder what percentage of Steam gamers have home networks that fast.

      I’m pretty sure the article means 190Mbit/s and 380Mbit/s respectively. The original blog post describing the codec also talks about ~200Mbit/s for a 1080p stream.
