I've finished: Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames

What an amazingly mediocre book. I could not put it down.

Filled wiht tired tropes and bad jokes, somehow Kings of the Wyld grabbed me. There is a charm to it that helped me view them all in a charitable light.

(I did have trouble with some serious ableism, especially towards the blind).

I think that making the characters middle aged, giving them lives, families and weaknesses made them vulnerable, humanized the heroic archetypes. Turned a brutal action adventure into a cozy one.
