Hmm… Now that would be interesting. At my last company every summer we would get high school interns (which I didn’t even know were a thing). Imagine if you got turned down for an internship because you legally were not allowed to use teams which is how most chats and meetings were held…

I imagine if you’re enterprise you can probably opt out of it. I wasn’t even aware you could find other people on teams via email/phone number.
