With the usual cruelty of this series in mind I bet his checkpoint is after the strangulation incident and his newfound schizo friend sticks around for the next loops. It’s really morbid but surprisingly sharp of Subaru to consider murdering his friends just to read their Books to learn their shared backstory then presumably die and loop back with the knowledge. Fucked up for sure but deceptively clever for our usually quite dense protagonist! Shame he is completely unaware that among all of his victims he was lucky enough to pick the only one from this party that can’t completely eviscerate him in seconds so his chances with the rest are rather slim! That is, if Shaula doesn’t step in to help him out, she clearly knows something and is the likely culprit behind the body’s disappearance.
