    Freedom to speak doesn't mean you won't upset others for what you say. It's a complete non-sequitur to suggest the two are at all related.

    The point of protecting freedom of speech is protecting offensive speech, and offensive speech offends people. If it's offensive but correct, then over time offensive speech can eventually become considered common sense, but just because it's offensive doesn't mean it's correct.
