My sentiment after only a dozen or so episodes. I mean, Christ, we even made it a drinking game by then (Stamets says “mycelial”, etc.), but that was too optimistic and our alcoholism was soundly beaten into submission.
Please, make it stop.
You don’t actually have to watch it. You also don’t have to complain about it in literally every thread about it.
Such squandered potential. I feel like most of the actors did the best they could with what they were given. I really would have enjoyed this show more if it had been more of an ensemble piece.
I’ve made it until the end of S2, and that’s taken me several years. I decide that it’s just not the show for me and stop watching, but every now and then I forget that and try another episode! Then the cycle repeats.
I do like some aspects of it, including the ship itself. I don’t like the rotating saucer though.
Honestly I’m constantly amazed it was on this long. I think not having ratings or traditional competition lets streaming shows go longer than they should.
It was never that good, and it just started declining from the pilot. I slogged through S3 due to “giving it a fair chance”, and I regret that every time I think about S3, which I’ve mostly forgotten. ANY other sci fi show and I would have dropped it probably in the first episode, or at my most tenacious in the first season.
I don’t think it had to do with ratings. I think it was part of an overall strategy for the streamer to lean heavily into franchises to entice subscribers. The ratings were probably only so so for Discovery, but until they could get another live action trek spun up and running (SNW) they didn’t have anything else to replace it with. Picard was a limited series that ended up being stretched too thin (season 2).

Good riddance.

I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one who is not a fan of Discovery. The first season or so wasn’t bad…I kind of liked Saru. Then Pike appeared and that was interesting… The last season…the DMA…was such a slog.
