I tried out a YaCy instance today, and searched for FBXL.

Interestingly, a surprising number of the search results came back with websites blocking FBXL social media.

It seems that my biggest crime is supporting freedom and in particular freedom of speech. Not long ago, this wouldn't be considered a controversial stance on the Internet. We built this city on freedom of speech.

It's great that these people think they win by silencing people who aren't hurting anyone but disagree with them, but let me present an alternative viewpoint: By banning entire domains for wrongthink, you're only making sure nobody hears you. Eventually, you only end up hurting yourself.

Look: Maybe you have really good arguments. I'll never know, because like a child you took your ball and went home. On the other hand, people you hate are actually willing to see arguments they disagree and engage with people, and guess what? Now that's what I see, because you're too good to interact with a ruffian such as myself.

I'm pretty open-minded, you know. There's been times I've supported different candidates from all kinds of political persuasions if they were able to make a convincing argument. I've been open and honest about the fact that I supported Justin Trudeau when he was trying to become Prime Minister in 2015 deposing the Conservatives under Stephen Harper, and today I'm going to support other parties deposing him. If Justin Trudeau could convince me to support him, perhaps you could convince me of your argument?

Oops, but you can't, because you decided to block.

This isn't just about me, mind you. Watch as the establishment gets its mitts into big tech sites; Instead of people quieting down, they head off and make their own spaces you aren't in control of and you don't inhabit. And they're new and hip and cool because unlike the stodgy old moral puritans you represent, they say "don't worry, you can say whatever you want here!" and instead of blocking people they disagree with, they engage with them. Maybe they change their minds. Maybe they change their minds on important stuff.

Then suddenly Florida is a red state and the midterms look like they're about to be a red wave. And you're looking around going "How did this happen? Everyone I talk to agrees with everything I say!" -- of course they do. You kicked out anyone who didn't. They're down the street at the cool bar that lets you dance on the dance floor and their DJ takes requests.

Just a thought.
