I picked up a second hand copy of his extraordinary novel Little, Big in paperback some time in the mid-80s, seduced at first by the Ursula K. LeGuin endorsement: "a book that all by itself calls for a redefinition of fantasy." But I’d say it’s even more than that.
I’d never encountered anything like it and it’s one of those books which immediately altered the course of my reading life, very likely for the better.

Same. It's magic in all the best ways. Very human, never predictable and beautifully imagined. I've had a second hand copy since the 80s too - not always the same one. Kept hoping for a hardcover, but at least found an upmarket paperback.
