I recently started selfhosting and setup a SearxNG instance and I love it. Before that I used plain old ddg but I find the results even better than on any other search engine I have seen

I am always on the lookout for a good search engine, so far SearxNG is the best for me.

github.com/searx/searx I don’t like to be the “let me google that for you” guy, but this information is searchible under 30 seconds. There is no point in asking it as a question on a forum

I need to confirm it by anybody as most of the things in internet are unstrustable for me.
I didn’t mean to waste your time by my post. Sorry.

To clarify - checking the official GitHub repository for the status of a project is faster and much more reliable than asking strangers on an internet forum.

Why would you trust random people instead of the official Searx repository then? That makes no sense.

Asking the question here allows a conversation to happen, informs others that SearXNG is a thing and provides additional context.
If everyone just looked everything up on their own, there wouldn’t be much of a forum here for you to go and wag your finger at people asking questions.
If you want more reasons about why allowing people to ask questions is beneficial for the health of a community, you can go google it.

…and all of that is provided in the searx repo, which I linked and, which, as I have said, is easily searchable.
Note that I have never said that asking questions should not be, you made that up.

Asking the question does provide some value, because at least for me this is the first I’ve heard of the discontinuation of maintenance, and I use SearX.

Apparently SearxNG is still developed
