Transitioning to renewables has so many benefits, including autonomy like in this case.
The one I’ve been thinking about the most recently though is moral. The amount of suffering and violence that fossil fuels have caused is an abomination. I feel like I’ve spent my whole adult life seeing men in the middle east saying they don’t know how to go on living after their children were killed in wars over oil. Now that I’ve become a father it hits me extra deep that there is nothing that could justify that kind of pain.
I can’t have anything more to do with it. I’m going full renewables for my home and transport, and I have the Chinese to thank for the equipment being available and affordable because my own country in effect considers it too ‘woke’ to provide it themselves.
