Explanation: Late in the Roman Empire’s existence, it was split into the Eastern (Greek dominated) and Western (Latin dominated) Empire. Nominally, both were still part of the same government, and despite the ongoing crisis of civilizational collapse and barbarian invasions, both reigning Emperors were supposed to act in support of one another.
… this was not necessarily the case.
