Why does my channel hold so few posts?

I tried creating a channel the other day, just so I can lower the number of circles that I have (I think I have 20 of them). I decided to start with something simple, so I decided to create a channel about FOSS software based on a technology circle that I had previously created.

Here are my settings for the channel:

Keywords: bsd, calibre, canonical, cosmic, debian, dillo, fbreader, firefox, fosdem, foss, git, jabber, kde, keepandroidopen, libre, libreoffice, librewolf, linux, markdown, mint, mondstern, mozilla, open, opensource, pi, pihole, play.it, raspberry, selfhost, solus, source, thunderbird, ubuntu, vlc, wordpress, xfce, xmpp; also full text search with the same words; selected languages are English, Romanian and Undetermined

However, every single time I'm accessing the channel I get just three posts:

I am pretty sure there are more than 3 posts about FOSS in that circle as I follow many more accounts, but I don't seem to get them. Is there something I'm doing wrong? What can I do to get that channel more active?

@petrescatraian The number of posts displayed in a channel also depends on some server side settings.
There is a total number of posts that are processed to determine if they match your channel setup and therefore are stored in the channel. Local setting: 30000 posts.
There is also a maximum age of posts. If posts are older they aren't displayed. Local setting: 72 hours.
And there are 4 or 5 settings more. 🙂
All of these settings have an impact on the amount of data stored in the database and the performance of the channel.

  @alfred ah, I see, thanks for hopping in 😁 Does the increase of any of these settings affect the server performance overall? Let's say the maximum age for example as I suspect this might be the case 😁

    I can try to raise some of the values. But I remember that higher values had a bad impact on the performance - database queries took a lot of time.

@petrescatraian Have a look at /help/user/channels – the channels are explained there.
As for your settings, I’d change the following.
Clear the settings under Full Text Search, as that field normally uses MariaDB’s “boolean mode” operators. For example: +(tag:hashtag,tag:hashtag1,tag:hashtag2)
Under Languages, it looks like you’ve only selected ‘Unspecified’, which means that only posts for which no language information has been detected will be displayed (e.g. posts that contain only an image or too little text to determine the language with certainty). If you want to see all languages, you need to select all items in the list.
