There are about 14 plug types used in different countries regarding plug sockets:

  • Types A & B (US, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, Mexico)
  • Types C, E & F (Europe)
  • Type D (India, Nepal)
  • Type G (UK, Saudi Arabia)
  • Type H (Israel, Palestine)
  • Type I (Australia, New Zealand)
  • Type J (Switzerland, Rwanda)
  • Type K (Denmark, Greenland)
  • Type L (Italy, Chile)
  • Type M (South Africa, Mozambique)
  • Type N (Brazil)

They all have different shapes and sizes (however in some regions each one can be used interchangeably such as Type C, E or F across the EU while Type L is exclusive to a few countries like Italy but even Type C can be used). The only thing is that most countries use a 220/40v-50Hz grid while US, CA, MX operate on a 120v-60Hz grid (only both Japan & Taiwan use a grid that’s below 120v, mainly between 100-110v).
