A romantasy about a secretly Jewish magician in inquisition-era Spain. I've not read #LeighBardugo before, and had mixed feelings about this, leaning positive. Her prose is elegant and pleasurable to read, and she balances the plausible and magical aspects very well, especially through the female characters. But the plot is bogged down in genre cliches, from the nature of the central romance, to the main driver of the story being a contest run by an oppressive government. @bookstodon #bookstodon
