Snake-Eater by T. Kingfisher (2025) is Gothic desert horror set in a fictional Quartz Creek that is somewhere in the liminal space that is Four Corners adjacent. Selena arrives by train with her dog, her meager possessions and about $22 dollars to her name. She's come to stay with her aunt, only to learn that her aunt passed away the year before.
