Gotta think about the dow
US regulator won't follow Europe's lead and stick higher age ratings on games with loot boxes and daily quests, since it might confuse parents

It might confuse parents into… Making better decisions for their children instead of handing over every cent they have via gambling?

“Daily quests”? You mean like how in Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald you get a berry per day from some NPCs and can check once per day whether Mirage Island was visible…? (I remember a phase in my childhood where I did that every day.) Or whatever is meant by this?

Possibly yes, though that’s the lowest age category and only bumps games up to a PEGI 7.
I think the logic is fenerally sound, because as begnign as that mechanic can be, there really shouldn’t be things in games which encourage or force you to come back to the game on a specific schedule, or punish you if you don’t.

They should be rated “G” for gambling

Bold of them to assume that amerikkkan parents care

When they address this in games they should also apply the same age rating to all the ‘collectable’ stuff sold in stores with packages that have random content like magic the gathering, sports cards, and the rest.
