‪#Reading Zeinab Badawi's "An African History of Africa" the chapter on the transatlantic slave trade was as difficult to read as I expected, but also taught me a lot.
One really interesting element was the role of, and likely primacy of capitalist industrial economics in Abolition. That abolition was about money not morals makes a lot of sense. The role of money and the absence of morals nicely highlighted in this passage #nonfiction #history #Bookstodon
