As AI technologies spread, the next bold, brave frontier is not replacing labor but directing it. Rent A Human turns people into “meatsack” factotums and lackeys for algorithms, handing familiar elites a more efficient way to wield command.
Missed opportunity to call it a meatstack.
When I pay for a service and not a product, I am basically renting a human.

This wouldn’t be the first time someone was sure their algorithm was smarter than thousands of gig workers, and lost their investment money. It also probably won’t be the last time.
