  As a person of hispanic descent, this is not offensive. I like when people are excited about parts of my culture enough to want to participate, even if they “get it wrong” sometimes.

  If everyone just hoards their culture to themselves or only for people who “get it right,” then no new cultures can emerge from the blending of different cultures.
