Is there any indication that this old peeling paint contains asbestos? Thanks.
Asbestos is normally in the texture under the paint, not the paint itself. (Not that it can't be in paint but the texture is a different thing)

I believe you’d have to get an inspector to test a sample of the paint.
I think asbestos was used more for insulation, right?
Pretty common to be used in tile too. It was a great material until we realized it causes cancer.
It was also used for some paints until circa 1980.
Wow TIL thank you
I don’t believe you can visually identify asbestos in paint and or other materials. There may be indicators but to be sure you need it tested.
In my neck of the US, I was required to take samples to a lab for testing prior to dumping during a remodel. Think it was about 135 for exterior paint and plater/drywall. Check your local regulations.
Asbestos is only an issue if it gets in the air. If you are worried about it, grab a respirator, break off the loose parts and paint over it.
You need to look at a sample under a microscope to tell.
You could simply bind it with another paint and leave it be.

Far more likely to contain lead. Either way, it should be remediated properly.
