TLDR; he cultivated some mycelium from a mushroom called “Ganoderma polychromum mycelium outside his Los Angeles studio”. Used a hemp substrate around a fiber glass boat mold, and then dried it over several months. He calls the resulting material AquaFung.
Great start, but coming in with a kayak weight of 107 lbs compared to most kayaks being below 45lbs will give them quite the challenge to overcome with this AquaFung, but it’s pretty promising.
