Looks to me like the media URLs for Lemmy.zip have been blocked by Cloudflare.
The link in the Cloudflare message link to the docs for their CSAM scanning tool.
I hope this is just some bad detections and not some terrible things happening in the shadows 😕
You can reach the error page on mobile by switching to desktop mode on the website.
I’m seeing this issue in communities on other servers posted by users in other servers. Might not just be a Lemmy.zip issue.
Yeah got the issue too, was wondering why no image is showing.
Came looking, if anyone reported this. Glad to see I’m not the only one.

Does lemmy.zip pay for Cloudfare’s edge cache or CDN services?
It’s not a paid feature (we don’t pay) - its their CSAM scanning tool. In this case, because we use the Lemmy proxy, it’s taken down everything pattern matching https://i.lemmy.zip/api/v3/image_proxy which is less than helpful.
Which service of theirs do you use?
I’m just trying to understand if they can block traffic to servers run by sysadmins who’ve never signed up with them at all. I would think not, but the web is so centralized these days that I’m not sure.

I thought it was my browser crashing.
I looked it up and a 451 error is entirely on the website and not on the user.
No, 400-series errors are user errors. Not that you necessarily did something wrong, but the server did everything right. 500-series errors mean the server itself fucked up.
In this case, the error isn’t very different from 403 forbidden, except it specifies it’s forbidden by law, not just server policy.

Thanks for the heads up! It is thankfully a false positive from another server that tripped the CSAM scanner. It shouldn’t take down all the images though, I guess that’s the risk of using it with the proxy. Pros and cons!
Just waiting on Cloudflare to resolve now, images should be back up shortly.
