How the fuck is this “news”?

It’s a bot. Apparently, whoever is running it isn’t curating it currently. They were, but the last week or so, this kind of link is showing up and not getting removed.
I’m actually a fan of bot driven aggregation, I used to mod r/goodlongposts, which was a reddit scraper. I’ve seen how cool the approach can be. But it takes curation to make them work and not just turn to spam. Bots just aren’t able to differentiate quality and relevance yet.
This bot seems to only scrape maybe three sites, and it doesn’t seem to be filtered at all, so we get these ads disguised as articles a lot when the mod isn’t curating

And how is it tech?

This irradiated user just spams hundreds of random articles a day. I think it may be worth blocking them

Hi! It’s not really a user, nor are the articles random- this is a bot that posts articles from a few preset “tech news” sites, which frustratingly sometimes post garbage. If you report the non-tech posts, I clean them up periodically.
