I’ve picked up game dev as a hobby again. Trying with Godot engine and I’ve got a character that can run and jump around.
A small success, but I’m happy to have my hobby back.
As a fellow hobbyist game dev I’ve just completed the doughnut tutorial to start learning blender.

I’m subscribed there. I was browsing it last night actually haha.
Are you working on anything at the moment?
Awesome, keep at it. I have a on/off relationship with game dev, as my day job is programming so it often feels like a bus man’s holiday to spend more hours at the keyboard, but the results are fun. Currently trying out some old ideas with latest Godot. Much easier than SDL and writing everything myself in c++ which I’ve done before.
Nice one.
If you are thinking of a microblogging (Mastodon/Calckey) presence then you could try easymode.im.
Gave a talk on Open Street Map at my local monthly geeky meetup.
Oh brilliant. I’m a big fan. Which reminds me I need to transfer some new notes to the map.
Oh nice, where do you map? I’ll share the talk once it gets updated, but probably well below your level.
Found my gamebooks! I’m just sitting through them now…
Must have been nostalgic. Did you find any thing in there?
Loads - I picked up all sorts to give me an idea of different systems. I am missing one book but will drop posts into !gamebooks@feddit.uk as I go along. Between those, my maps, my juvenile attempts at writing a gamebook and sundry other weirdness from my childhood fantasy game obsession, there’s a tonne of content to mine. I just need to figure out which box has my scanner in it…

Most of that went over my head, but sounds like an arse ache!

They used a drill to remove a bolt that had rounded off and couldn’t be removed with a shifter or pliers so they drilled it out. Sometimes doing that can strip the female thread and make the whole frame useless BUT they succeeded.
