Key points: Unanimous supreme court decision makes “reverse discrimination” lawsuits under equal standing.

This overturns a previous precedent by federal courts which requires additional evidence of extreme circumstances for “rare discrimination against the majority”.

The opinion from the supreme court makes it clear that was an example of legislating from the bench, as nowhere in Civil Rights Act Title VII does this any language specify a difference in treatment between majority and minority.

The Supreme Court’s decision in Amex v. Ohio Department of Youth Services doesn’t settle Ames’ discrimination claim but only revives it for additional court proceedings.
