Today’s game is Fable 2. The Oblivion Soundtrack has recently put me in a mood to replay this, so i ripped my disk and launched it with Xenia. It runs pretty well for my System. It could absolutely be better, but overall for an experimental emulator it runs great.

One issue i have is the Main character is just a void. Completely Black. Apparently there’s a patch for this, but it was late and i didn’t feel like messing with patches when i saw Cheat Engine mentioned. Cheat engine and Linux have been a nightmare for me to figure out.

I have a lot of fond memories of this game. The first time i ever saw it was when my dad rented it through Gamefly when it was still big. He ended up buying it later and played through the whole thing, and i followed Suite. It’s probably my favorite in the franchise next to 3 (i like it’s whole vibe and the Sanctuary is such a unique idea that i don’t really see done). Fable 1 i just cannot get into no matter how hard i try but i really like the game itself.

One thing the franchise does that i love is how the same locations are used decades later in the lore. It’s so cool to see Bowerstone (the screenshot above overlooks the town), which was in all 3, throughout different eras of the worlds lore. My favorite of these is Wraithmarsh though, which is Oakvale from the first game. In fact, irc you can find ruins from the first game there. It gives the whole thing a creepy atmosphere knowing you’ve been there before and things are this messed up now.

The game had a problem with flickering, especially in the spot above. I saw a patch for it online so i might try and see if that will help. Like i mentioned earlier though, i need to mess with Xenia and Proton so i’ll have to see. For a Early 360 Game it looks really pretty though. I wish it got a PC port like Fable 1 and 3. Maybe with the upcoming reboot we’ll get something, but i’m not crossing my fingers to be honest.
