Okay so the crown prince was at least somewhat intelligent, just too afraid to act. Mia managed to get him out of his self-imposed confinement which is encouraging.
Philia was treated so badly previously that she only found out she had emotions just now.
Frankly, the difference in behavior between the two countries’ people feels a bit too contrived, but the story is interesting enough so I’ll continue to watch.
