I used to be a voracious reader of books, then about 18 years ago two things happened to me which changed that. I became a father (of twins) and I got my first smart phone.
I now find it difficult to find the time, and more importantly, the focus, to sit down and read a book. But earlier this month I signed up to BorrowBox and have been downloading books from my local library to read on my phone. 🧵
I'm finding that I can focus much more on reading, with fewer distractions (notifications are blocked while I read) and have worked my way through three superb books in the past three weeks. It helps that there is a time limit on the borrowing period.
I'm hoping this trend can continue, I've a lot of catching up to do!
Also, I'd welcome any recommendations!
@ccferrie I'm reading Trespasses by Louise Kennedy - it's so good! A Catholic-ish teacher in 1970s Belfast is drawn in by a Protestant-ish lawyer twice her age, and their affair provides a background to a growing tragedy - about a third of the way through now. Witty, dark, loving, cynical…
