So, we’re remodeling our sauna and I’ve been looking for LED lighting for the new benches. One row on top of backrest pointin to ceiling and another below the sitting bench pointing downwards.
There’s sets on local shops which are just for that purpose but they’re stupidly expensive. Like 10€ per trough hole led and some wires with dupont-like connector on the end. And at least the few models I checked out don’t really impress on their build quality either (exposed leads on leds, heat shrink tubing all over the place and so on).
Power is brought in via conduit in wall and power supply is not located in sauna, so that’s the easy part. But the LEDs themselves seem to be a bit more difficult. One option I’ve found would be LL-504WC2E-W6-3TC, but 5mm warm white ones seem to be a bit difficult to find. Generally pretty much all of them seem to manage the temperatures just fine, there’s rarely over 80 degrees on top of the backrest and even if I’d need to swap out a led now and then it’s not that big of a deal.
But is there any other, maybe more suitable, LEDs around somewhere which I can’t just find? And also is there collars/holders anyone would suggest? Currently I’m leaning in to a panel mount collar like this one, just throw the nut away and push the rest into a hole on wood.
And then there’s the driver part. It needs to have at least some kind of dimming, but it would be nice if the whole thing would work with Home Assistant. The problem being that the light switch for the alternator lives in shower room (two poles, one for shower room, one for sauna) so it needs to be at least IP44. The power supply lives in shower room ceiling, so manual adjustment is possible, but a bit awkward to work with.
I currently have only wifi and z-wave on Home Assistant network, but zigbee is not entirely out of the question. Also I’m in Europe, so everything is 230V (besides the LED PSU output obviously). And I’m spesifically looking for individual LEDs for the ‘light column’ effect, not LED strip.
What would you suggest?

Be sure to cross post this to the home assistant communities.

Good point, will do. Currently I’m just focusing just on the lights themselves. Dimming even with a off-the-shelf constant current module would most likely be enough so I could set it once for suitable level and leave it at that, but of course it would be nice to extend into more adaptive lights while I’m working on it anyways.
Other what I’ve been thinking is if I should go full RGBW and just set colour temperature and intensity as a whole to something nice, but that would mean more wires and more complex setup as a whole and I’m not too sure if that’s worth the effort. It’s sauna after all, not a disco.
