Google is set to cut hundreds of new jobs in its device and platforms divisions soon.

The company has continued to cut its Google Pixel teams, doing so earlier this year as well.

Rival Microsoft is considering a new round of layoffs next month, per reports.

Mass hirings should also make the news. They only seem to cover layoffs these days. It is quite depressing.

I wonder if it wouldn’t be better for Google to put Android under the purview of the Linux Foundation and just focus on GMS.

That move might lessen monopoly scrutiny by the worlds governments

  It would be really awesome if they gave up AOSP governance to a foundation under the linux foundation but I doubt they would. They recently made Android development completely private.
