Why when we can have lead-gasoline nazicars?
High tariffs on BYD in the US are to protect wealthy corporate shareholders of auto manufacturing corporations that didn’t use profits to innovate or reinvest in and instead bought back stocks, not the workers who would be happy to work on, build, supply parts for, etc affordable, economy EVs.

TBH nobody can compete with BYD at this point at normal consumer level.

It’s crazy how big BYD is in China friendly countries (I’m in SEA and their everywhere) though Japanese cars are still hard to uproot from many cultures and I hope Japan comes up with an affordable EV soon. I’m not driving Chinese spyware.
