  At the end of the day, behind every billionaire or at least almost every billionaire you find the backing of a nation state.

  It comes from a thousand different directions. One massive one is the banking system which isn't at all a private industry given how much the state steps in to make it relatively safe to basically engage in perpetual fraud.
