  About the same where I live.

  It’s literally just the US and places like Switzerland or Fiji where egg prices are stupid.

    I assume to both protect the eggs and so you can see to tell if the eggs are broken. The plastic top is taped to the cardboard bottom so you can’t open the package to inspect.

    They also sell them in 5 flat packs which are just cardboard between the layers. You can see the corner of one on the right side of the photo.
