The acorn didn't plan or try to become an oak, it just did it, as a teleological imperative in which the telos was always present. And that telos is *still present right now,* still playing out, unfolding, and fulfilling itself even as I look at this lovely tree through the window.
. . . Cannot I, myself, grow with the same stability toward my own worthwhile “goals” . . . in the very same way and via the same sustained inhabiting of this moment? Will not my own goals and outcomes be more real, more enduring, less artificial, less subject to self-caused suffering, if I take my motivation always in, from, and for this moment?
