Hi everyone,
I got tired of SSH managers that want an account or a cloud sync, so I built Crabshell: a local SSH manager for Linux and Windows.
Features
- Save and organize your servers
- Tabs and split view for multiple sessions
- SFTP file browser
- Snippets for commands you use often
How it handles security
- Uses your system’s own SSH client – no custom SSH implementation
- Uses your existing keys from
~/.ssh - Crabshell itself does not store any passwords
- Everything stays local, no telemetry, no account
Honest disclosure: I built it with a lot of AI help (Claude). That’s exactly why I kept the security-relevant parts on proven tools like OpenSSH instead of reinventing them. I’d really appreciate people looking at the code and pointing out problems.
Built with Rust + Tauri. Packages: AppImage and RPM.
