I’ve been seeing them hint at this for months, it’s their grand plan to make Xbox more profitable. The Azure cloud prints money, why wouldn’t an Xbox cloud perform the same? I’m sure it sounds good to investors. They will crank up the price of their consoles to make the rental fees look like a better deal.
Xbox wants you to pay 24 to 40 cents per hour to stream games you already bought

As long as it’s streaming from their hardware like the article outlines that’s fine. They are providing a hardware rental at that point. It doesn’t seem like the author understands that. The point in streaming services is so you don’t have to buy a full gaming rig, lowering the entry cost to gaming.
However, if they want to charge me for streaming from my own hardware, they can keep their “service”.

Renting their hardware will become the only access to hardware that anyone can afford… because all the rest was made scarce by the demand for more enterprise hardware for them to rent out to everyone.
They can stick it in their X.
