It's only been 24 hours since i installed and got myself immersed in vivaldi browser, and gotta say this is a really marvelous browser. Thanks to the Vivaldi team. Here's some feature ideas for the cool developers out there...
- Save Appearance & Settings as Presets 🗿
Allow users to save their browser appearance and configuration as named presets, making it easy to switch between different setups without manually changing individual settings. Custom themes already exist, but a broader preset system would be useful.
Example: “Minimal,” “Productivity,” and “Personal” presets, each saving preferred colors, toolbars, panels, and other settings.
- Battery Percentage & Wi-Fi Status 🔋
Add native battery percentage and Wi-Fi connectivity indicators to the Status Bar, similar to the Windows taskbar. These would be particularly useful for laptop users who keep their Windows taskbar hidden.
Example: A battery icon showing 78% and a Wi-Fi icon indicating connection status and signal strength.
- Live RAM & CPU Usage
Add optional, real-time RAM and CPU usage indicators to the Status Bar. Although Vivaldi has a Task Manager, persistent indicators would make resource monitoring more convenient.
Example: RAM 62% | CPU 18% displayed near the bottom-right corner.
- Hibernate Individual Web Panels
Allow users to hibernate individual websites added to the sidebar, just as they can hibernate tabs from the Tab Bar or Window Panel. This would help reduce resource usage without removing the websites.
Example: Right-click a Gmail Web Panel and select “Hibernate Panel,” then reactivate it when needed.
- Colorful Panel Icons
Add an option to display all built-in panel icons in their own recognizable colors instead of the current monochrome style, making the sidebar more visually appealing and easier to navigate.
Example: Downloads in some color ☂ , History in purple 🔮 , Bookmarks in yellow 💡 , and Notes in blue 📘 , with each icon having its own predefined color scheme. (sorry for bad emoji selection)
Thanks to the Vivaldi team for building such a customizable browser. These additions would make it even better...
