Had to check wikipedia for the coup and recording thing since I had never heard of that before and couldn’t help but stop by the alleged war crimes section
Comment on emperor doesn't even have control

Best Japanese Emperor ever.
- Suppose to be a puppet for the military junta to control the civilians
- Suppose to do whatever the military tells him
- Actually cares about the Japanese people
- Follows the reports and knows how badly the war is going
- Directly confronts the Generals and orders them to surrender
- Records a formal surrender in secret when they refuse
- Sneaks out of the Imperial Palace with loyalists when the Generals find out and stage a coup with the intention of assassinating the Emperor and his family
- Hijacks the national radio system and plays the surrender recording to all of Japan at the same time, forcing the Generals to stand down to save face
- Saves millions of lives and ends WWII overnight
Gave up his godhood and future for the sake of his people, and as a result got to keep his position as Emperor despite an unconditional surrender to the US.
It was the first time the Emperor spoke to the people of Japan directly.
He was the first Japanese Emperor to set foot on US soil.
And he died peacefully of old age while in office.
I wish more people would be like Emperor Hirohito.

That’s the least he can do when he lives in luxury on the purse of the workers just because he got born.
