Religion is a living thing. Nobody ever follows the religious books exactly, and there is always tons of room for interpretation. They’ll always tell everyone that their interpretation is the only true one, but a neighbouring community will have a slightly different interpretation and swear that theirs is the only true interpretation.
The key thing is what they believe. In many cases, they believe that abortion is murder (or at least very close to murder). They also manage to justify the things they’re doing at the southern border. Most likely the only person who can convince them that their interpretation is wrong is someone who shares their religious beliefs, or at least knows them intimately.

Oh. So you’re saying… we should tolerate their intolerance. Oh. I’m sorry, that was inflammatory. We should hold their beliefs, as a secular nation above everyone else’s- that we should pass laws respecting their religious bullshit. That’s what your saying?
They can’t have it both ways. They want to. But they can’t. Any denomination which purports to hold a document as the immutable word of god doesn’t then get to disregard said word of god when it says that they’re wrong. And doing so absolutely makes them heretics.
Furthermore, given that belief, why is it they’re so apposed to contraceptives when easy access to contraceptives is the single most effective method of preventing unwanted pregnancies?
Theyre hypocrisy knows no bounds, and they’re not motivated by genuine care for the child, or for “righteousness”. If they were… they would not vote for a man like trump, they would support migrants and refugees. They would support contraceptives and give more than 2 shits about the kids they’re forcing to be born into this world
I’m sick and tired of people saying we should tolerate their intolerance. No. We should not. We should not be crafting policy and law based on their whims of moral panic.
