Comment on DVDs are dying right as streaming has made them appealing again
TheImpressiveX@lemmy.ml 4 months agoThey’re talking about 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, which was introduced in 2016. The video is still compressed, but it’s still much higher quality than DVD and Blu-ray, and can hold 60-100 GB of data.

Ah, gotcha. It’s annoying when people use “DVD” as a catch-all term for all optical media.

Exactly. If I buy a DVD player, I’m not going to be able to play a Bluray. That’s a pretty important distinction.
