Where do you expect them to announce this kind of news, in all of their communities?
Comment on Did the largest Ukraine community & its instance got nuked?
DarkThoughts@fedia.io 4 months agoThanks. I kinda hate how every instance has their own hidden away news community.

I don't know but it clearly lacks the reach. Maybe at least have an easy to see link to the news communities within the sidebars, but that's more something for the actual software to do I think.

Usually the news only concern the instance’s users. If you want to find announcements, the community is often named either meta or main.
But maybe a common place for instance status announcements isn’t such a bad idea.

Like @fediverse@lemmy.world?

Might cause some spam after every new version, not sure how that community would accept it.
There are more than 20 instances than have more than 300 monthly active users (fedidb.org/software/lemmy/), if all of them announce their updates there, that could be quite a lot.
I would suggest people who are really invested in a community to follow that community’s instance meta/main community

You'd first have to even find / know about them.
Unfortunately I'd say 99% of the threads in that community are also completely irrelevant for me and a lot of them aren't even in English, so I'd rather not have that pollute my feed.
