If we’re going to make this a history meme, then the topic should be:
Pandora’s “box” was NEVER A BOX! That mistranslation can be blamed on a few old, dead white guys (including Nathaniel Hawthorne), and it makes it seem like it had to be consciously opened to release the horrors within. The ACTUAL container of worldly ills was a PITHOS, which is a type of jar primarily notable for being incredibly easy to tip over accidentally, and made of flimsy pottery.

Makes sense, Pandora was created specifically to fuck over the mortals (reminder once again that ancient Greece was super misogynist, hence of course it’d be a woman saddled with the role). Of course the gods would stick the world’s ills in an easy to open container.
