Comment on is there a search engine for the fediverse?
CosmicCleric@lemmy.world 8 months agoThat’s not a lemmy.world link
When you hit reply to a comment from the web client, there are several editor buttons you can press, like ‘B’ for bold font, ‘I’ for italic, etc. The farest to the right is a circle with a ‘?’ mark in it. That link is the same as pressing that button.
So if you don’t trust the link I gave you, go to lemmy.world in your web browser, and hit the reply button for any comment, and then press the circle with a ‘?’ inside of the circle button, and you’ll be taken to the same page as “join-lemmy.org/docs/en/users/02-media.html”.

Right, so it’s a Lemmy thing, not a Lemmy world thing,

It’s a Lemmy World web client editor thing.
It’s a help page that shows how to format your comments.

I feel like you’re missing the point. Maybe I wasn’t clear. Yes, Lemmy World does use it, however it’s a feature of Lemmy itself, not just of Lemmy World. Lemmy World is just one instance of Lemmy and they all use the same markup.
My point is calling it the Lemmy.World markup is inaccurate and potentially misleading. Lemmy is more than just Lemmy.World.

Well, I’m using the Lemmy.World web client to post comments, and thats the formatting they have (per this link). If they are incorrect, then the issue needs to be resolved by Lemmy.World and the other Federated servers software maintainers, and not by me. I’m doing what I’m supposed to, as a user with an account at Lemmy.World.
Also, mobile clients do not set the standard, the Lemmy servers do. As far as I know and have seen so far, all servers support Lemmy.World’s formatting, its only the mobile clients that do not.
