Neighbourhoods change. The city and neighbourhoods you’re clinging to don’t exist anymore. In their wake can come great new neighbourhoods, just different to what was there.

So they’re completely inadequate for the needs of the 21st century, but we should preserve them because… they were the first dwellings constructed there? How is this an argument? Your local mall, that was constructed in the 70’s, was also history. Why did you allow it to be torn down or renovated until it was unrecognisable? This entire argument is just heritage-washing NIMBYism from conservatives who are allergic to change of any kind — that doesn’t directly increase the status quo’s property prices (of course).

I mean, it wouldn’t be so bad if the population never changed from what it was 70+ years ago
