Which calendar is that?
Comment on “What do you mean you don’t know the year Constantinople fell off the top of your head?”

I do know the year and day Constantinople fell, yes!
29 May 1453.
To be fair, the 29th of May is my birthday, but I’m still kind of excited that I know that one off the top of my head.

Oh shit i thought it was 1447. I was off by 6 years, unacceptable
ByteJunk@lemmy.world 9 hours ago 1453 is also the end of the 100 years war, with the English losing the battle of Castillon. An eventful year in European history.

It’s honestly the best candidate for the official end of the middle ages.

I was close! My somewhat educated guess was 1438.
ByteJunk@lemmy.world 9 hours ago I love Europa Universalis 4 (PC game), the game starts on November 11th, 1444 - a day after the Hungarian/Christian defeat in the battle of Varna, which paved the way for the Ottomans becoming a superpower.
That’s a cool date for the game, because it allows the players to try to save a nearly doomed Byzantine Empire, or change the outcome of the 100 Year War for example.
Well, I got the right century at least
