Comment on Help configuring OPNsense VLANs? Tutorials I find seem to quickly become outdated.

@ampersandrew You're battling two problems at the same time. First get rid of the managed switches (or disable 802.1Q). That will make you life a lot easier.
How can I have VLANs in the first place without them? I need switches that are aware of the VLAN tags.
@ampersandrew It's quite a lengthy post. Admittedly I only skimmed it. Apologies if you already provided the details.
If your firewall has sufficient ports you could hook your laptop directly onto it. If you're running linux, your laptop is 99% certain VLAN aware. In that case you could use dumb switches.
@ampersandrew Also, if you need to use a managed switch make sure all VLANs go to all ports with only one PVID. Remove as many puzzles as possible.
I’m about 95% certain the managed switches are configured correctly, as before I landed on this configuration that seems to agree with the guides I’m following, I wasn’t even able to hit the gateway. Other than this device and one other in the near future, the rest of my home network is behaving as though they are effectively on dumb switches.
