    They sell your data. They could also inject ads into shit and force you to pay to remove them.

    Better infotainment will lead to higher customer satisfaction in the long run. But many corporations are notoriously short sighted and grab for the quick and easy profits. Sure, you might be annoyed that they locked paywalled a feature that used to be free but you are unlikely to sell your car because of it. They already have your money from you buying the car so any extra money coming from you is icing in the cake.
