Whilst your identity can be fully anonymous, your IP address is not and although that at this point in time you have my word that i do no track or log your ip address. I may in the future monetize this app and give back a portion of ad-revenue to the active userse, if this happens, i will track IP addresses to catch and put a stop to bots & cheaters…

“Fully anonymous”
“will track IP”
“Have my word I do no track or log IP address”
“I will track IP addresses”
Wow is this the first time a dev advertising anonymous software has admitted they plan to sell their userbase (once that userbase builds their content for them enough) right off the bat?
Its like a enshittification speedrun

With all due respect, I said ‘at this point in time’ & also acknowledged that the mention of any IP tracking received negative feedback, so I will avoid all IP and br transparent about that… With node express apps, the IP is inherintly included in any request made to the API server, however can be masked via VPN. The only reason I was considering it was to stop bots in the case that I gave back to the community. But In the case where no IP tracking is preferred I need alternatives to stop bots & cheaters (especially if I’m giving away cash back to the active users)

You could try setting up donations. People tend to be pretty receptive to that in projects where the content is worth it. I’ve donated myself to several FOSS projects and even have a couple of recurrent donations setup to projects I really enjoy/make use of.
