Comment on One possible caveat of using an open source search engine alternative instead of Google
Chocrates@lemmy.world 5 months agoYacy is the only one I have heard of and I hear that it is terrible. I set it up myself maybe 20 years ago when I was still on dial up and it wasn’t great, but I thought it was because of my shitty network and computer by who knows. I’m very interested in one, I have been using duck duck to but that is just a layer on top of Google afaik

Let me know if you find one. Searxng is neat but it, like DDG, seems to just be a self hosted layer on top of the big players
