  It’s just the way things are written there. Actual quote and that greentext form of writing just use the same > arrow thingy. You see it here too sometimes.

  I think there’s something fun about writing it like that. Reminds me of IRC.

    I was using 4chan in 2008. You don't need to explain greentext to me. But that's not a greentext story, it's a reply that quotes someone else's post, which is why it has a comment ID number.

      It’s not a comment ID number, it’s saying there’s basically “a gazillion instances”. It’s making a joke about Lemmy but just in greentext.
